Outdoor lighting: safety and style for gardens and entrances

What to look for in outdoor lights: water protection, placement and the right level of brightness.
Outdoor lighting makes a garden, a terrace or an entrance safer and more beautiful in the evening, but the products must be made for outdoor use.
Check the IP rating. It tells you how well a fitting is protected against dust and water. For exposed places such as garden posts, wall lights on a facade or lights near the ground, choose a fitting with a high protection rating, and ask us if you are unsure which one suits your location.
Think about placement. Wall lights on both sides of an entrance welcome visitors and make steps visible. Light posts along a path guide people safely and give a soft glow without glare. Light the plants and the facade lightly rather than flooding the whole area, because gentle pools of light look more elegant and save power.
Prefer LED fittings, which use less electricity and last long, and have all electrical connections made by a qualified electrician, especially outdoors.
